Description: The Yellowstone Raft Company, established in 1978, is by far the most experienced river outfitter in this area. Our guides, training and equipment are the best and we are proud to offer guided raft trips and kayak instruction on the Yellowstone River near the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

The Yellowstone River is the longest free-flowing river remaining in the lower 48 states. It is big and beautiful and perfect for a family rafting adventure with exciting whitewater appropriate for all ages from 6 on up. Our half day trips are paddling trips where each person has a paddle and uses it under the direction of a guide. Most of our full day trips are rowing, where the guide does all the work and the passengers hang on and enjoy 17 miles of the magnificent Yellowstone.

Generally the rivers offer Class II and Class III rapids. During high water in the spring the rating is higher. Yankee Jim Canyon is rightfully famous for its whitewater during the spring runoff and our experienced guides can take you through there for a big water adventure unequaled anywhere in this area.

For those seeking more individual challenge, we offer sit on top kayak instruction. Beginners are welcome and encouraged on these trips. We will teach you the basics of river safety and paddling in the beginning and then finish with a five mile trip down Class II water. You will learn the basics for reading the rapids and maneuvering your kayak in and out of the current. Those who catch on right away can surf some small waves and start to understand the possibilities of fun on the river with these agile, user friendly boats.

Directions: The Yellowstone Raft Company is located at 406 Scott Street (which is Highway 89) in Gardiner, one block north of the bridge. We are at the north entrance into Yellowstone National Park, 5 miles from Mammoth Hot Springs and 55 miles south of Livingston, Montana.
